A Family Centered Home

Our ward was asked about how we as Sisters in the Church create a Christ Centered Home. I really had to think about it for a while. These are some of the ideas I came up with for our family.
First, We need a place in our home that promotes quiet & peace. That is my front Room called the "green Room" because of the green couches. I have pictures of Christ and the Arizona Temple hanging. It is where we do Family home evening most nights. It is were we say family prayers and have priesthood blessings.
Second, We need a place to store memories. I have family pictures up my staircase and in photo albums around the home. To remind my family that we do have fun times together.
Third, We needed things to remind us of our ancestors. I have pictures of our ancestors and a "Zither" that was owned by my Great Grand Father, George Jacob Brox. He was being persecuted for being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Germany. So his little family immigrated to Manti, Utah. He was known for his music. So instead of packing it away were it would be safe from little fingers. I have it out were it can touched and seen by my children.
Fourth, We need to set aside times for just our family. Monday nights we have a Family Home Evening Lesson. It is basically a scheduled time were our family is together and we can discuss different things. Sometimes it is about religion and some times it is just fun and games. This year we are doing the "Ultimate Gift" Experience. It is from a movie our family really loved. Anyway it has a different Gift to work on every month. This month it is the Gift of Laughter. SO it has been fun to find things that make us laugh.
Fifth, We need to help build habits of learning about Christ. Every school day, we met around the kitchen table at 7am to read the scriptures as a family while we eat breakfast.
Sixth, We need to have fun playing together. If we want to spend eternity with these people in our home we have to have fun together. Dean's Grandmother started this. She loves to play games whenever someone visits. So we have several games we love to play as a family and with friends. PIT was the first game ever I played with Dean's BIG family. It is one we play with our kids Now.
Seventh, WE have set an identity for us. A several years ago, we decided to come up with a unique identity just for our little family. SO it was decided we would be known as the "Mighty Moore Monkeys". There are goals and standards set for the Mighty Monkeys. The most important one is that there is nothing we can't do if we are together. So, there are several Monkeys around our home.
