My Dad

I like this picture of my dad.  Maybe it is the way the light is hitting his face or how his eyes look like they belong to a kid and not a man almost 70.
My Dad is a unique Character to say the least. He has his own way of doing things. For example: he bought Madi and I 20 pairs of "the SAME" Jelly flip Flops because they were a $1 apiece. SO if he thinks it is a DEAL- watch out. Wal-Mart will be sold out of it in no time. That is the way I grew up. But instead of Wal-Mart, it was Yellow Front, Fed Mart, and Kmart. He does not want to be just sitting around. He has to be doing something. Which was great for us this time as we had several Electrical things that needed to get done. He does love his Grandkids even if he does not remember Birthdays or Christmas. And we only get to see him maybe twice a year. I was proud of him as he had stopped smoking for 3 months now. That is a big deal. He told DT that he tested out how he was doing by going to the Casino in Yuma with a Pack of Cigarettes to see if he would smoke them and He did not. He is generous to others but it is on his terms. But if you are his friend, he will have your back. One of his best talents is that he can start a conversation with anyone anywhere. He does not care if you are rich or homeless, he will get to know you in just a couple of minutes. In fact one of his best friends was a Homeless man. Dad built him a shower in his back yard so when the man needed to take a shower, he could. And when the man died, dad was the one that contacted his family. He thinks he can speak Spanish by adding an “o” to the end of words. Ok, he does know some Spanish but not as much as he thinks he knows. I don’t know how Solo, his girlfriend, and him communicate, but they do.  He can make a dollar bill into a "M" or "W" or a Sigma.
I am not saying it was easy growing up with him, but he does have some  good quailites I hope my kids can learn from.

So here is to you, Dad-
May you always have something to say and people to say it to.
And may there always be clearance sections in Wal-mart.
Your Daughter

Some of my Dad's favorite sayings-

Well Hell's Bells

This is the OLD MAN

Como? (spanish, I guess for- What?)

Damn

Hell

Half Ass Job
Why Shit? (I have always wanted to say "because it happens", but never have)

and you wonder why profanity does not bother me too much....

Annette, I love this tribute. He kind of reminds me of my dad. His swear words do, anyway, especially 'hells bells'. I would love to meet him someday and tell him what an awesome daughter he has.
