Grandmother's Rocking Chair

My new Pride and Joy- When my Grandmother Ruth Brox died, there was only one thing that I really wanted of hers. It was her white Rocking Chair. Why you might ask? I will tell you. Not only is it the PERFECT size for me (Short legged person that I am) but it has so many wonderful memories attached to it. I remember all the summers I had spent with her over the years. She had friends come and visit and she would be sitting in that rocking chair. It reminds me of peace and love that came from her home which I did not have in my own home growing up. The last memory of my mother alive was her sitting in that rocking chair.

So a couple of years ago, the chair started to tear at the sit. It needed to be redone but It never felt like the right time until about a month ago. I started looking for a reupholstering class. I could not find one SOOOO I called the most talented person I knew, Leigh Ann, and asked if she could teach me how to recover this chair. She did not even hesitate with a YES. And so we spent many hours together finding fabric and putting this Chair back together. I am in her debt as I know that it would not have turned out As PERFECT as it did with out her direction and actually doing most of it!
I LOVE IT. It just makes me happy to look at it. I have put it in the middle of my living room so that the whole family could sit and stare at it as well. "hey kids, stop watching TV and Look at this beautiful Chair. Isn't it amazing? Look how the patterns just match up so perfectly. What a pretty chair... "

You my friend are tooooo kind. You did a ton of work on it--i was telling my mom about it and i equated that i did about 15-20% and you did the rest. I have always loved that chair as well--and i was excited and thrilled to have gotten to help you with that fun project! I loved our time together and we need to find an "excuse" to get together more often--i so enjoyed hanging out with you and if the chair was in my house i would sit and stare at it as well--I LOVE the way it turned out--BEAUTIFUL--just like all those memories that go along with it!
