Making Laundry Soap-

Laundry Soap Recipe:

1- 5 gallon Bucket

1- bar of ZOTE (can be found at FOOD CITY or any little Mexican Shop)

1- cup of Super Washing Soda (found at Fry’s)

1- cup Twenty Mule Team Borax (found at Fry’s)

4- Gallons of water

Heat 1 gallon of water in large pot. Grate bar of soap and add to water. Stir until soaps melts.
Add one cup washing soda and borax. Ingredients will foam. Stir until everything is dissolved (5 min or so) remove from heat.
Add to 5 gallon Bucket.
Heat 2 gallons of water on stove. Add heated water to 5 gallon bucket with soap mixture.
Then add 1 more gallon of water (not heated).
STIR WELL.
You may add 2 oz of essential oil for scent BUT it smells nice without it.
STIR it again in about 4 hours then at bedtime and then in the morning.
Cover and let set 24hours, the mixture will gel. It is done.
I use about a cup of laundry soap per load.
If really dirty, use 1 1/2 cups.
Great for Sensitive skin.
Great for HE washing machines as it does not get sudsy.

For Storage purposes:

1 Box of Super Laundry Soda (Arm & Hammer Laundry Soda, NOT detergent)

1 Box Twenty Mule Team Borax

6 Bars of Zote or Fels Naptha

Makes SIX 4 gallon Batches for only about $10. Much better than the $16 or so for just one gallon.
